excellent second book. thought at the end, i want to hurt Mary ann so bad for leaving. I understand she want to leave to stop hurting everyone, but couldn't she tell that she was only hurting herself in the end.

2.5 I am quitting at page 200. I forced myself to read the first and gave the series another chance. I just don't care about the characters. The story is good and it has a lot going on, perhaps too much there is no center. It still has that tween feel, not quite teen. Time to give up when I dread picking it up.

This isn't going to be a very in-depth review, I just want to point out some things that nagged me about this book.

First off, Mary SueAnn. I hate this character. This is the most Mary Sue-ish character I've ever read about. Everything about her is perfect, everyone loves her, she can do no wrong, she only looks out for others... ugh. Everyone has flaws. Give her some.

I almost choked myself every time her and Riley were together. Most of it is admiring his body, or his face, or something physical about him. She almost never describes the inside of him, just the outside.

This was such an awkward book. Either it was sloooooooooow, or it was so action packed that even the action seemed boring because there was nothing exciting about it anymore. It had been going on for so long that it was just normal. But then it got slow again, then more action, slow, action. There was never any in-between.

Victoria may be the best character in this book. I loved watching Aden try to get her to show emotions. At first I was pissed, because it was like he loved her but he was just trying to change her. But then I realized that he was only doing it for her own good, and that was a pretty awesome thing to do.

Intertwined, I loved. [b:Unraveled|7696564|Unraveled (Intertwined, #2)|Gena Showalter|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1324267566s/7696564.jpg|6967602], not so much. I was debating whether to give it 2 star or 3, but I chose three because overall I sorta liked it. Let's hope [b:Twisted|123106|Twisted|Laurie Halse Anderson|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1171848225s/123106.jpg|2019821] is way better!

I read the first book in this series and enjoyed it enough that I wanted to read this next book in this series. I picked up a copy back when it was released. I started reading it and got about half way. However something happened and my interest got lost along the way. I stopped reading and this book ended up in my long pile of to be read books. I would pass this book many times and thought I need to pick this book up again and finish it. I finally did and at this time I started from the beginning as it had been so long ago since I read this book. Well I did get about half way again but this time it seemed that it took me a lot longer to get to the half way mark. over this book and jumped to the last few chapters. To be honest the ending was not as I had hoped and I was kind of glad that I had not spent all of my time reading this book to get to this ending. Even though I lost interest in this series, I still do enjoy reading this author's books.

With the Witches deadline looming in close, Aden and his friends need to find out where the council will be held or else they will all die. But witches are just one of their problems; Faeries keep attacking Aden wanting to find out more about his power, past demons come to haunt them, and something in the vampire’s crypt is stirring!

Aden has already seen his ultimate death, but what he didn’t foresee was the other deaths he is having to experience on an almost daily basis. What’s more, he has to please the vampire council by accepting to go on dates with their choices for the next vampire queen. What will Victoria think!?
Victoria is happy enough about Aden’s new position in vampire society, but that doesn’t mean she likes what that position entails. Victoria ultimatelu loses control, expressing her bottled up emotions, and showing her monstrous secret.

Mary Ann has insecurities about her relationship with Riley, but that is the least of her problems. She’ll discover that suppressing Adens power is not all she can do. She doesn’t want to be useless though, and quickly asks the boys to teach her how to fight. She’ll put their lessons to use earlier than she thought.
Riley and his brothers are doing their best to protect Aden and Mary Ann. But what happens when they need to protect themselves against one of their charges.?

I liked that this book had a faster pace than the first one. It has a lot of surprises, and it put the characters through lot of trouble and grief. It definitely left me wanting the next book in this series. Luckily Twisted comes out this August 30th!

One of the reasons I loved the first novel in this series, Intertwined, was because it was the ultimate paranormal read. You like vampires, it’s got em. Werewolves? Got those too! Fairies, witches, goblins, demons... you betcha! It’s like a creature overload and I love it.

Unraveled didn’t disappoint.

Intertwined was more of an introduction novel... you meet Aden, lean about his ‘abilities’ and you meet the three other characters; Victoria, Mary Ann and Riley. Unraveled is a lot more action! And revelations! I thought I knew these characters after book one but that was only the tip of the iceberg. Whew.... I’m a little heartbroken at some of those revelations...

I have to admit that, I was absolutely enthralled in Riley and Mary Ann’s story. Aden and Victoria, who? Not that the parts about Aden and Victoria were boring, there were quite the opposite actually, and that ending, holy wow. But I was just more interested in reading about Riley and Mary Ann, and I did not get nearly enough of them.

Even though this book is a little on the chunky side, it took me no time at all to read. Mainly because I could not put it down. Something was always happening to our fabulous foursome... There are so many plot threads flying around, yet Showalter manages to weave them all back together. You’d think I wouldn’t be surprised by the magnificence of it, I read so many of her novels.

And the ending.... I can’t even describe my frustration! How could you do that to me!

The one thing that knocked it down from a five star to a four, was because I thought it lacked any resolution.... sure we learned some new things and characters are taking different roads.... but nothing was really accomplished.

SPOILER:

I mean, sure, Aden got the witches to say “this meeting is called to order” and his friends didn’t die... but that’s all I get. Really? Poo!

END SPOILER!

Overall, Unraveled is an captivating, action packed read full of all my favorite creatures. I only demand one itsy, bitsy, teeny, tiny thing.... MORE RILEY!

Love the mix of characters.  It was fast paced, maybe just a bit too much.  Definitely not a slow treat read.

I liked the first book a lot better. It was more interesting. I will read the next book and see how it is. I want to know what happens.
