I’ve been trying to read this book for a month. I’m 13% in, I’m intrigued but bored.
It’s in 3rd person, it’s incredible slow paced, that’s why is boring.
I’m not in the mood to pick it up anytime soon. So I’m soft DNFing it. I’m probably never gonna pick it back up. But who knows…

Who doesn't love a WWII spy novel?!

This was totally solid and I wouldn't mind recommending it as a beach read. This is more espionage and less international assassin. More intrigue and less action. But, that's what I appreciated about it.

The one drawback was the incredibly awkward sex scene. I mean INCREDIBLY awkward. On the other hand, Silva wrote surveillance and countersurveillance as well as anyone.

This was a very disappointing book. The title and blurb makes it seem like the main character is a female spy, which was the main reason I picked up the book. But that character has no bearing on the overall story and ends up being a pawn used by other characters.
The plot and writing style are decent but I didn’t enjoy any of the characters.

This one is captivating from the beginning til the end. The suspense, thrill, and romance adds a nice flavor. It has many unexpected turns and twists, and a big one overall. I thought I started to grasp espionage and deception half way through but it proved me wrong. The character build-ups and world building is super good on the grand theme of WW2. The ending was a surprise, yet some character arcs ending was not that pleasing, but the end untied and explained a lot of things. Quite interesting book that I’d love to see as a movie.

What makes the perfect novel? Great plot, interesting characters, and expert pacing should pretty much do it.
The Unlikely Spy is one of the best reads I've had in a while. The story is very similar to The Eye of the Needle.
In fact, I've seen some complaints from people accusing this as nothing but a cheap clone of Follett's classic.

I think The Unlikely Spy was far superior, in terms of evoking the time and place of Britain during WWII. I felt I could really visualize the blackouts (or not visualize, you know what I mean), how it must have
felt to navigate the countryside with hooded headlights or the city of London with a dim torch.
The plot is similar to Eye of the Needle, where the great deception for the invasion of Normandy may have been compromised by German spies.
This is a terrific read, and stay tuned to this space for more Daniel Silva reviews. He's the next big thing, and I hope his next novels are just as good as this one.

A great WWII era spy thriller. Every time it seems like you now what is going on another layer is revealed.

4.5 stars. It's always great when a long book is a feverishly enjoyable book. The pacing, the story and the characters are all really well fleshed out and make for an enjoyable read.

Haven't read a few entries in the Albion series, I knew the author was able to pull together a good story, And I'm glad to see his standalone novels can be just as enthralling.

Excellent read. Cannot help but wonder - even with explanations at the end - what was real and what wasn't.
