Another great instalment to the Allegra Fairweather series. This is actually meant to be book 3 as the story follows on from book 2.

Once again I loved the mystery, the paranormal aspects, the quirkiness of the story. Allegra is smart, funny and doesn't put up with nonsense. She's also very human and makes mistakes.

The story moves along at a good pace with just the right amount of action, mystery and introspection. I loved the world building - goblins, mer-people, ghosts - and how history has affected what is happening today.

Looking forward to the next instalment.

I didn't realize this book was part of a continuing series when I picked it up. Though I was able to figure everything out, I think this is a case where reading the previous novels may enhance the story.

The story is told in the first-person, something I think can slow a story down. That wasn't the case here. The story moves along at a great clip and kept me entertained. There isn't a romance involved in the story, so I'm not sure why it was laebked as such.

I'd classify this as a Stephanie Plum-type novel, without the excessive humor. A bit of fluff to enjoy to pass the time.
