Less interesting as an architectural biography and more interesting as an architectural guide to Tokyo, a sort of mini-urban-ethnography.

"...Seseragi Park; at one of its corner stands a library that I designed, constructed from wood. It blends seamlessly with the part around it, so that visitors can enjoy the sensation of reading a book while being in the middle of a forest."
I read this because my boyfriend is an architect and said this was a book about his favorite architect. I had fun reading this book because whenever I went to Japan, I never looked at the building and how it looks past just the building and see them from a city perspective. I love how the author describes it as such. I love the storytelling too on what he thinks during the designing phase and a little background on the city itself. As a Japan traveler, it's pretty interesting to read such books. I'm hoping to visit some of these buildings Kengo Kuma has designed himself, hopefully with the boyfriend.
