This was a cute book. I had a hard time with the British colloquialisms and references. Many words I had to look up. Of course it all finished up nicely and quickly at the end.

It was a down-to-earth, entertaining book, albeit one that took a bit to get into. The ending, too, had plenty of deus ex machina, as if it was a last minute decision to have things turn out the way they did, but nonetheless, it was a good way to spend some time.

I loved it!Such a good read I couldn't put it down.I enjoyed the characters and the descriptions of the utter shock you would feel in a situation like that but a thoroughly enjoyable read.More please!!!!

Review - A Rural Affair doesn't disappoint as the main character, Poppy, tries to get over the death of her husband. But what's unusual is that she doesn't really grieve for him, more for the loss of a father for her children. What I love about Catherine Alliott's writing is that once you start reading one of her novels, they are completely addictive and you really can't put them down. Her characters are all intriguing and the storyline is full of twists and turns. It's emotional and funny at the same time, which is quite hard to do. Well worth a read.

I thought the heroine was a bit weak, seemed to fall apart a lot even when she said she would become stronger.
