Six books into the series, the plot has gotten rather predictable. We have a hot and beautiful FMC monster that the gargoyles are hunting and are eventually ordered to kill after they obtain some objective out of the monster - one gargoyle is insistent that the monster is a monster, one is on the fence about the monster, and one is supportive of the monster. The FMC usually hides that they are a monster until she must be revealed by circumstances, and the gargoyles always magically find the FMC attractive and get hard-ons around her all the time. The gargoyles always feel like they've been lied to at some point and leave her for the villain or to be killed, but after some self-reflection, they decide to hunt down and check on the monster because they love her (after sleeping with her a few times). Evil man is evil, evil gets defeated, FMC gets pregnant with gargoyle babies, then everyone lives HEA.

This book introduced the concept of virgin gargoyles and a virgin FMC which was a change. We also had an alcoholic gargoyle, and a gargoyle with a physical disability. The FMC was very naive and hadn't been tortured and lived through hundreds of years like the other monsters in previous books in the series. However, the progression of the plot was very X, Y, and Z with battle after battle against the evil villains - character development between the harem members was limited to whether or not the gargoyles would fall into sleeping with FMC monster and whether or not the monster was a monster.

I did enjoy that Medusa and Keto were brought back for a cameo and seeing a little more of Hecate and her future harem at the end of the novel.

I will still continue reading any new books that come out since I enjoy the world and learning about the different monsters, but I wouldn't say this is a series with much original or in-depth character and relationship development.

An interesting idea for a story, but the characters were pretty flat.
