I’m being nice by giving this book 3 stars. This book was boring. The plot, characters, and pace of the story were boring. I can’t remember one scene that was memorable or one time i truly smiled. It makes me said because i was actually excited about this one. At least the protagonist wasn’t unbearable. I hope the second book isn’t as uninteresting as this one.

I really liked reading about Fable as a character because she was reckless but still smart enough not to do things that may make her frustrating. The aesthetics of the ocean and islands and travel while not constantly fast-paced were enough for me to stay invested, especially when it involved other characters until I learned to care about them. For my first book about sea wayfarers and trade, I really enjoyed it!
