I AM FEELING SO MANY EMOTIONS AND I'M SO OVERWHELMED!! I loved and cried so much with how much Oliver was struggling to cope with his life and his dad and his mom... And I loved how cute the twins, Nora and Molly, were!! THEY WERE SO CUTE!! The friendships and the family relationships were just amazing..

The characters and relationships are what made this book so special. At first glance Emmy & Oliver looks/sounds like a typical YA romance but I personally found there's a lot more to it. The depth of characters and the different relationships portrayed in this book are so lovely in the way that they're realistic. They show so many different aspects of life and how one event can affect so many. I'm really happy I decided to read this. It was the perfect holiday read.

The book I needed this summer !
It's been a while since I've read YA, indeed, I've been focusing on classics and more "adult" books recently, and I really needed something cute, quick to read, with a summer vibe to relax
This was perfect.
Okay, it might not be full of Shakespearian references but who cares ? I give it five stars because it was so heartwarming and comforting. Emmy & Oliver is a story of friendship, love, family, growing up, dealing with trauma... Oliver's father kidnapped him when they were 7 and 10 years later, he's back. But things changed in 10 years, hi mother married again, had twins... His friends made new memories and well, he's kinda lost. Emmy, his childhood best friend (our narrator), with an incredible sense of humour she inherited from her father (I burst out laughing way too many times) has never forget him. Their relationship was so heartwarming, full of comprehension and communication (that's what we're asking!) I loved the fact that they had R-E-A-L-I-S-T-I-C parents, that don't accept their children to go to parties late, spent time in eachother's room to often... Eventhough it's not fun at all, it's frustrating to see that in movies and books, characters are always throwing huge parties, going out late, going on adventures...
So I was happy to see that Emmy's parents are a lot like mines : cool and fun but with rules.

In conclusion it's a perfect quick easy read (my edition had 400 pages and I devoured it) for summer, that I hope you'll enjoy :)

3.5 stars. I really wanted to like this, but for some reason I was never really able to buy into the relationship. I also kept getting irritated at Emmy for not being more understanding of Oliver's point of view. Also, based on various locations the story referenced, this HAD to take place right around where I grew up, but it was never specifically stated which city this was set in (or if it was stated, I missed it) and it was driving me crazy the entire time!

I just could not get into this book. The only reason why I didn't give it less stars is because I might try to read it again sometime.

This book is super cute! I usually read thriller / horror, so this was a bit outside of my realm.

It’s definitely YA and cheesy, but I really liked the story line and grew to love the characters. I’d recommend it :)

This book was pretty good.

There was never any MAJOR conflict that was introduced where I though how the hell will this be figured out? I guess the main thing was Oliver coming back home and coping/dealing with his new life and family.

Something that I was a little bummed out mainly towards the end was how we never got to see Oliver's side. I mean HE is the one going through this. HE is the one who is coming back home to a mom, new stepdad and two half sisters. For the first time HE is going to school and making friends etc. That is for the better though. We don't know how Oliver is feeling. We can't sort through this and his emotions.

Over all pretty good novel. I'd love to see this on the big screen. It seems like something that will be good in a movie.
