A very good book. The story telling was interesting as was the dark horrific plot. The only thing that bothered me was the lack of indication of who was speaking and the lack of quotation marks in the book.

this book has been on my TBR list for a while and it was definitely something Iā€™m glad I read - all criticism of the book (diversity, etc) is extremely valid, but Atwood is still able to write a compelling story that in some ways seems not too far off from our current political system. i listened to this book via audiobook and given the ā€œhistorical notesā€ at the end it actually felt more accurate to the story to read it that way. regardless, worth the read!Ā

Finally read this for the first time, and it's alright. Remains relevant now more than ever, to a certain extent. It is very much white feminism only, with all the minorities written out of the narrative with a few sentences. All black people shuttled out to one of the Dakotas, Indigenous people are slaughtered, the Jewish kinda got a choice to leave for Israel but not really. To be fair, if we're going with the idea that the far right evangelicals are orchestrating this takeover of America, that absolutely tracks. It's still a noticeable absence in the narrative.

The plot itself is incredibly interesting but I wasnā€™t a fan of the writing style nor the plot development/story arc. Could be better, could be worse. It is either for you or it isnā€™t.
