A memoir about an older teen’s experience living in a psychiatric hospital for a couple years. Very vivid and insightful.

Read it after watching the movie and it did not disappoint. I love it is made up by memories, even when the story is not linear. Even when the story in general is very interesting, the final reflection (the author questioning her diagnosis) is not only greatly argued, but i think it is extremely important when we are talking about mental health and medical malpractice. Loved it.

The movie was already one of my all time favourites so I knew I'd love the book, and it definitely was even better than the adaptation. I loved the fact the chapters were really short because I prefer them. This was an instant 5/5 and a new favourite of mine. Some of the stories and the quotes from this book will forever be with me. Even though I don't have any diagnosis of mental illness, I felt really close to Susanna: I think that is because this is also the story of a teenage girl who feels disconnected from the world she lives in, which is something I have experienced and still experience, like many other young women.
