“I am not okay. Not at all and haven't been for some time.”
This book hurt me. I could relate in many ways and it made my heart hurt. I couldn’t put this book down however I needed to know that Sofia could be free.

This book is floating in the most peculiar way... An excellent read, a very visual, lyrical and professionally written psychodrama.

Pulsating, sweaty, drifting prose and a narrator who had me hooked. I’m surprised by the number of negative reviews about this, I loved the twists and things unsaid. Levy does a brilliant job of leaving the right spaces, bringing in the right observations, to build characters you feel you know more intimately because of what is missed out. The examination of mother-daughter dynamics in this were startling and poignant.

Maybe I spent too much time in my twenties drifting about the beaches of Europe, wondering where or what fears were holding me back, and that’s why I felt a good connection to this book. Either way, I loved it.

Slow, like wading through treacle.  Unsatisfied with ending. Lots of unnecessary threads, including 2 diversionary chapters.
