Even with short stories, Stephen King brings horror and the creep factor to his words. I can't really pick my favorite out of the list, but I will say that most gave me a range of creepiness or outright freaked me out a little. (Except for the last one, which was oddly wholesome for a horror story.) I love his little author's note at the beginning where he describes novels as an affair and short stories as a kiss in the dark, a weird analogy but somehow apt.

Read this on the first 1.5 weeks of our Europe trip - London, Cambridge, Azores. I only actually enjoyed a few stories (The Reach, the Jaunt, Ms. Todd’s Shortcut) out of the collection, but it was entertaining and kept me busy. I’ll happily leave it in somewhere in Porto.

I read this in anticipation of King's new book Fairy Tale. I've heard that a good book is one that keeps you thinking even after you've read it. The short story "Word Processor Of The Gods" is still tumbling around in the back of my brain. Comprised of all short stories, this one is great airplane reading. It can be devoured in little sips or all in one sitting.
