Adorable and silly. A lovely palate cleanser without any real heft.

It was a mystery without any suspense. It was a romance without any tension. It was just all either really predictable or questions would resolve the page after they’re asked.

I was skeptical of this cozy, but if someone had told me it was the cozy lighthearted version of Promising Young Woman I would have snapped it up right away.

DNF 15% in. There's just something about this book that hits a liiittle too close to radical feminism for my liking. There's a line (I can't copy it exactly because I was listening to the audiobook and I'm not going to look back to find it) where the POV character says she has a rule that she only kills men because killing "the female of the species" is something she won't do because that's what men do, and it really rubbed me the wrong way because generally, to me, people who refer to women as females are often either misogynists or trans-exclusionists. There were other instances in this first 15% that gave me this kind of icky feeling, and I promised myself I'd DNF stuff more often if I'm struggling with it, so there you go.
