This was such a great nostalgia read! I loved this series when I was young and picked up this book on a whim and it didn’t disappoint at all.

This book was just okay for me. The story had promise. Unfortunately, it began to drag, and my endurance wilted with every new character introduction. The author gives us too many views. It's distracting and tiresome. I especially dislike books that give us the inside view of the villain; it dissipates the mystery and intrigue for me. And I did not like hearing about all the side characters, of which there were too many.

Mary Hoffman is a good author, but this book wasn't for me.

This was a really good read. Even though it was obviously for slightly younger readers, I still enjoyed it. Also, lovely setting!

Stravaganza my beloved.
This story feels like home to me. It's a world I so wish to be real, something I wish I could travel to, because imagine how cool it would be to find an item that takes you to a lush world at night. Although I don't think I would function very well if I had that little sleep 😅

After finishing this for the millionth time I still feel moved by it and I still feel that sense of loss you get when you finish something you were so invested in. I don't think this book will ever move from its rightful place of my #1 favourite book.

Thank you Mary Hoffman for giving me this beautiful escapism I needed in my teens. I will fondly revisit this time and time again, no matter how old I get.
