This book takes place after a traumatic event, and shows the main character learning how to deal with his big feelings and dissociation in the aftermath. It is quite dark in some moments but the friends he makes, who help him get past it, and the fun they have which is depicted in photographs that the main character takes to cope, gives this book heartwarming and healing vibes. I loved the connection depicted between Manuel and Sebastian, and their friendship with Caysha.

Manuel is a young boy and has just been through a traumatic event. He finds solace with new besties, Sebastian & Caysha, after being assigned a school art project. Author and Artist Niki Smith created a very heartwarming story. Manny’s PTSD is handled well and the characters are very charming. The art is cute and delightful especially when it comes to Manuel’s photography. Caysha’s baby chicks

The reading age is 8-12 years old. I would closely look over content warnings with this one for young readers.
Very touching story. I usually don’t read graphic novels. It really amazes me how with such little dialogue your brain can still fill in so many blanks.
I really enjoyed the graphics and loved the color schemes.

Ps- LOVED the cows

Listen. Listen. This book was fantastic. I had an incredible time reading it, the depiction of panic attacks, the relationship between the MC and everyone else, the use of photos to ground themselves, the way the traumatic event didn't happen to him but he saw it and that was enough, the art.

I've talked myself into rating it a quarter of a star higher.

I really enjoyed the visual depiction of PTSD and anxiety/dissociation in this book. Also had very cute moments addressing grounding techiniques. AND COWS!!!
