I absolutely loved "My Girl" by Jack Jordan. So, immediately went and borrowed "Before Her Eyes" as an audiobook. Unfortunately, my feelings towards this one aren't so positive.

Honestly, the two books are total opposites and felt like they were written by two different authors. The storyline is all over the place and seems incredibly jumbled. Not in a fun ooooh whodunnit way, but more of a huh, I'm confused.

I also feel the book is quite unrealistic and demeaning to those within the blind community on so many levels by how Naomi is portrayed and some of her behaviors and actions.

On top of this there are so many flaws within the writing including contractions and silly mistakes which I found distracted me from an already muddled storyline.

Finally, the audio/narration of this is beyond ridiculous. A male narrator for a book which has a large majority of female characters is a bad idea normally. It's made even worse when the narrator uses squeaky, shrill and unrealistic voices and can't even maintain the same accent or voice for the same character throughout.

I will read more of Jack's work and hope this was a once off disaster.
