This book had been recommended to me for awhile now and finally yesterday I broke down and read it. Not that is was a hardship in anyway. I can definitely see what all the fuss was about and I'd give it a 3.75 (rounded to 4 because yeah, GR and no half/quarter starts. Grrrr)

So, what did I like about the book? Let's start with Derek. He's hot. Seriously freaking hot. And the way he talks?! Wow. I'd like to order me one of those please! *waits for a Derek-clone to be delivered* The sexy times (and talk) was hot, the night of the date when Ginger and Derek, uh, well, let's just say that it was burn the pages smokin hot, and the end, when Derek was trying to get to Ginger, well that wasn't hot but it did have me on the edge of my freakin seat! The plot, for a book of this length, was good. I didn't see any glaring holes in it, and Willa was a treat. (Her dialogue cracked me up!) I also loved the side story with her and what was going on in school. It was just adorable.

What didn't I like? There wasn't much to not like. The story was strong, the character development was good, and I liked the suspense-like conflict of it all. But I did have an issue that it was a bit short. Now, this is just me being selfish really because seriously, I'd like to have more of Derek's dirty mouth. :D But alas, the book ended. Thank god for re-reads, right?! Also, I thought that the age of Ginger was a bit too young. I get it, she's 23 and had to grow up fast, but I think it would have made the story a bit more believable if she was 25 or 26. I don't know why this age would seem more appropriate other than that number seems to fit who Ginger is, maturity wise.

I did have an issue with the formatting. I have to email the publisher because on my Nook color the pages at two locations seemed to be out of order. I was able to keep up with what was happening, but it just made me go back and re-read a few pages to make sure I got it right. (And really, a bit more of Derek is not a hardship, trust me on that one!) But I don't know if it was just my copy of the ebook, or if it's all of them. Anyone else have this issue?

The bottom line is that reading this book was a nice way to spend a couple hours and I look forward to reading more by this author. Now I'm off to find more books with hot, dirty talking alpha heroes.

*This book was a self-purchase and I was not in any way compensated for, or even asked, to review this book. All opinions are my own*

In this mostly spicy romance while Ginger is running from her past, she runs right into a cop, the last thing she needs. While Derek, a police lieutenant, isn't looking for love and has some semi-unusual sexual interests.
This wasn't quite as spicy as I imagined it would be, but still spicier than most contemporary romances. The book overall was pretty good. I really liked Willa the little sister.
    I, however, didn't like the
virgin part of the storyline
it sort of made sense with Ginger's character but is a bit overdone.
Overall it was pretty good, though Derek was too alpha male for my tastes, in his violence and need to basically mark Ginger, this book would be approached differently if written today, not a decade ago, I'm sure.

  Narrator Rating: 3 stars
I'm not sure if it was just the speed I listened to or something else, but she sounded like she had something in her mouth at times, her speech was just odd.

This was a stay up way past my bedtime and read in one sitting book for me. It was the very possessive “touch her and you’ll die” grumpy troupes for me.
