I was teetering between a 3 star and a 4 star rating on this.
Here's the thing, the book itself feels like an information dump. I didnt get enough time to really connect with and care about the characters before big things happened.
But, we need to keep in mind the fact that this book is an introduction to a series.
And oh my GODS, this looks like its about to a damn good series.
We've for friendship, we've got romance, we've got outdated beliefs, magic systems and rebellion.
I'm in it for the long run, and so, SO excited to see what the first full novel holds.

I found the author on tiktok and she posts great content
by the way. Definitely check her out
I enjoyed this a lot. Its a great introduction for the
characters and their friendships and you get a lot of
information and it definitely left me wanting more and I
cannot wait to read Real of Lies and Shadows.
It did kinda felt rushed near the end and that's my only
"complaint' but other than that it's intriguing and makes
you want more.

I was lucky to receive an ARC copy of this novella last week, and unfortunately started and put it down a couple of times before I had the time to really sit down and allow myself to ease into the story- and let me tell you that once I was able to pick it back up today and continue, I had to finish it. These characters are so complex and I loved getting a sort of introductory crash course. I saw a couple of people say that they felt rushed through the story, but I personally did not feel that way whatsoever. It was very well written and the author writes in a way that such vivid imagery comes across when you’re reading it. Mesterra doesn’t sound like a walk in the park, but its descriptions sure make it sound beautiful. So excited to see where Sera, Kenna and Drake end up in the aftermath. 5 stars

A fantastic introduction to what appears to be an incredible fantasy series. The magic system in particular has captured my attention for sure!

thank you to the author for sending me an arc of this in return for an honest review

a fast paced fantasy book that was very sweet to read with some pretty cool characters!

however, some things in my opinion were very rushed and felt as though they came out of nowhere, i think it could’ve done with more development. the writing also felt a bit juvenile at some points.
