This book was just alright. It was entertaining enough to finish but I don't think I'd read it again. Based on the summary it could have been a really cool story, but it just wasn't as exciting or messed up as I had hoped.

This was a weird book to read! I think the idea that people are so rich that they have gotten utterly bored with everything isn't a new trope. And it could have been a great premise. The twists of the book about Demi were fun and jumping back and forth between narratives and short timespans to fill in gaps was great! However i think the husband and the mother in law needed more exploration. Also it's really a shame the book didn't come with some moët!

I wasn’t expecting much from this one. It was fun but nothing special.

In the podcast "How Did this Get Made", the hosts do a deep dive recap on really bad movies. At some point, the hilarious co-host Jason Mantzoukas asks the pivotal question: "What. Is. Happening?"

And this question kept running through my head reading Good Rich People. Is it social commentary on our capitalist society? Is it satire about wealth in America? Was it basically an advertisement for Moet champagne (seriously, there is A LOT of Moet in this book).

The premise is a very rich man and his mom play "games" with new tenants at their property. His wife is an accomplice in these games, but grows to resent them and their wealth. And then...I can't really explain what else happens. I was hoping for it to be more like the horror movie "Ready or Not", but it slightly missed the mark.
