Liked the illustration style, especially the crowd line drawing on the title page.

When Doug unplugs, he always has an adventure! This time he becomes a farmhand. Good times for any kid that loves robots AND farms.

This colorful story about a robot helping on the farm is informative for farm life. I appreciate the attempt for high tech/low tech dichotomy, but it feels forced, didactic and falls flat.

“Doug learned that roosters can be bossy.”

I’m always leery of unplug books. I think this one toes the line nicely of the benefits of technology and unplugging together.

Doug is a city-bot, but he's excited for his trip to the countryside to visit his grand-bots. Determined to learn everything his can about life on a farm, Doug plugs in during the drive, learning all sorts of farm and animal facts. When a flock of sheep runs onto the road and the car ends up in the ditch near a real-life farm, Doug gets to experience all the things he's read about and more! In the end, its Doug's research paired with his real-world experiences that allows him to think outside the box and save the day! A great story about the importance of all types of learning, DOUG UNPLUGS ON THE FARM imparts a worthwhile message for all young reader-bots.

This second in the Doug Unplugged picture book series further illustrates that unplugging from technology can yield life experiences that can't be duplicated virtually. In this short read-aloud book, Doug applies the knowledge he downloaded when plugged in to access his higher-order thinking skills (like evaluating and creating) to solve tricky farm dilemmas he encounters. Even better than the first Doug Unplugged book!
