I think I would have enjoyed this YA read more when I myself was a YA, but this start to the series has me intrigued.

I've had four of the books in the series in my bookcase for quite some time. I have also recently required the last ones after I started reading this book. The reason why I ended up buying the final two books physically even though I initially said I'd read them on my kindle is because I absolutely fell in love with this book, the world and its characters. This is literally a Harry Potter x Wednesday mash-up, meaning that it's perfect for me.

I also really loved the writing style and tone, it didn't read as a typical young adult book at all, it quite reminded me of The Raven Cycle in its tone, leading more towards (new)adult rather than YA.

Christian and Dimitri might be my favourite characters till now, but I am so excited to explore more of this world and the characters as soon as I pick up the second book (aka today).

2nd read: Oct 2024, 4 stars - I completely understand how my younger self gave this 5 stars. It’s a really good young adult vampire high school romance with some good twists and turns as well as witty dialogues and lovable characters. A nice and quick read too. Off to re-read the next one.

1st read: January 2009, logged on Shelfari (what Goodreads was before it was Goodreads), 5 ⭐️
