I liked it but would probably give it a 4 1/2, it got a bit boring about half way through, probably because all the big mysteries were cleared up by then. Still, excellent writing and great plot!

Fantastic. Absolutely fantastic.
I'm a big fan of this series. Partials. Fragments. Ruins.
The story is amazing. I hated how I had to keep up with the multitude of characters, though. I could handle. Thankfully!
The romance, though, makes me cringe. Not that it's bad. It's just... KIIIIRRRAAA. NOOOOO. Marcus was perfect! PERFECT.
Gosh...
I do love how Dan Wells forces the characters' hands sometimes. Like...well...I don't want to give anything away!
By the way, the cover is...beautiful. ciibhv0c4jctvr beautiful. Yup. THAT beautiful.
AND
I just adore Marcus. He's the witty one. The one who cracks a joke to break the ice. I just love Marcus as a character. Curse you, Dan Wells... YOU RUINED HIS LOVE LIFE. We all know who he is going to end up with, though. Miss...I-got-shot. Not to give it away...

What a realistic book! The ending and the events in this book are very understandable and so believable, unlike other books I've read. I liked how the romance line wasn't the center of the story and the action was well done. I wish there was more detail for some of the "final battle"-like scenes, but other than that, no complaints on my end! Just the right number of main people died as a reminder that the characters are not gods and aren't always so lucky to get away with their life. Great ending for a great series!

YAY! Thank you, Dan Wells, for having a book where the heroine makes choices - tough choices, with consequences and everything - and keeps moving forward. I didn't even mind that it had a 'love triangle', and I hate those! (and I loved them both by the end, so good job!) Thank you for giving her reasons and hope and love and a desire to do the right thing even when it was hard - especially when it was hard. Thank you for surrounding her with people who followed her and rallied around her, not because she was the prophesied one or she was the only option, but because they were inspired by her. Thank you for giving her vision to see the possibilities, while holding her face down in the muck of reality, and letting her make the tough choices between who she is and who she wants to be. Thank you, Dan Wells, for giving the world a heroine I want my daughters to someday read about, not because she's beautiful or superpowered, but because she makes choices based on how she wants the world to be and who she wants herself to be, and takes the good with the bad. I loved this. :)

I laughed, I cried, I learned so much about tension and pacing from reading this book. There was so much that was really good about this book and reading this series. I want to see it turned into an epic five season TV show where issues of what it means to be a human, and how you survive and everything really take root in your mind.

I loved this book, and this series. It was excellent!

As book 3 of the Partials Sequence, Ruins doesn’t disappoint. The series’ thus far has established itself as smart and unique with a large dose of strong characters, and Ruins brings it all home with a flourish.

As is the case with a lot of trilogies, Book 3 feels more like the second half of book 2, but that isn’t a bad thing. Kira Walker and her supporting quest continue in their quest to better the end of the world while unraveling the numerous mysteries surrounding who actually caused it. The character complexity and development continue to be excellent, and the plot does a good job of moving foward at a nice pace.

While this series leaned more to the sci-fi side of things (less feels and magic, more science and actions), Dan does a good job of bringing in an emotional ending that you can’t help but appreciate. The trilogy is tied up well, but not too neatly, and you walk away happy because the ending made sense. I feel like trilogy endings are often shots in the dark, and often feel rushed or incomplete, but the author pulled it off very well.

I recommend this book, and the whole series to anyone who likes dystopian, paranormal or scifi.

4.5/5 stars.
