Genuinely read this twice in two days because I felt like it was so relevant to my current state of lacking my shit together.

So why the lower stars? A few niggly things - there's a few things in there I find to be, let's say, less than sound advice for a huge portion of society (like putting a picture of yourself on the fridge when trying to lose weight, or asking yourself if your mum would approve of what you're doing).

I feel like someone with the authors history should see why that first one especially is kiiiiinda fucked up.

So why higher stars? Because aside from those one or two it's a genuinely good and helpful book, very funny, and gives several good methods for self reflection.

They just shouldn't be taken as gospel without thinking about how they might affect your personal situation.

It's also very open and progressive. There's no pressure to fit thr hetronormative standards of success, no gender based assumptions, and a wholehearted acceptance of mental health and professional help.

I liked it. There are a few ideas and advice I’m familiar with from other sources but Knight gives a unique take on it. The Chipmunks metaphor that’s carried throughout the book is clever and relatable! I definitely leave this book feeling like I’ve gained insight into a few areas of my life and I feel more empowered to deal with them.
