Vaughn and Allie were made for each other.

For Vaughn Chicago was never part of his plan. He is just trying to keep his head down and get through this season so that he can get traded and continue his NHL career with his best friend in Oregon. Until Allie.

Months ago, Allie and Vaughn hooked up. No numbers were exchanged so after Allie snuck out on him, he had no way of even trying to contact her. While he is at a bar in Chicago, the last person he expects to see is there - Allie. Not only that... he learns that she is actually his team captain aka his nemesis since forever's little sister. What could go wrong?

Vaughn does everything in his power to stay away, but he just can't and seemingly neither can Allie. They start their secret romance and it kicks off from there.

I actually really enjoyed Vaughn. He was a classic case of misunderstood. I loved his willingness to show Allie how much she really meant to him and prove to her that he can put her first. I love Allie as well! She was such a strong FMC, who could hold her ground even against her older brother.

The effortless connection between Allie and Vaughn was so easy to root for. I loved watching them confide in each other and be open to communicate. Vaughn knew what he wanted, and I really liked that he wasn't afraid to show that. He knew his actions would have consequences, but he wasn't afraid to face them. He really was made to be a villain for no reason, and I am so happy that Allie was able to see through that and give him a chance.

This was a fast paced, forbidden romance that you can't put down. Can't wait to continue the series and see what the other Slayers players are going to get up to.

What a great surprise! I've read a few stories like this one but not one was as great as Dirty Secret.
I LOVED both characters. I like that Vaughn was different than other hockey players- they always do everything for publicity but he was happier if publicity didn't know about the things he does. He was always so nice to Allie, even when he was 'mad'.
Spoiler I liked that he let her go because for him her happiness was the most important thing. The biggest plus was that he turned his life for her, not the other way around. I expected that she would go with him to Chicago, but he stayed and I couldn't love him more.

Allie was also a great character. She was sweet and kind and stood up to her brother after everything. I'm so happy that she's found Vaughn and became a priority for the first time in her life.
The story was overall very lovely, it was sweet and hot, funny but also heart-gripping. I recommend it with all my fingers!

Allie/Natalie and Vaughan, a NHL player, hooked up when she knew who he was but he didn't know she was the little sister of his arch rival. Vaughan never expected to see her again, because she snuck out of the hotel room. But he never forgot her.

Fast forward to present day, and Vaughan runs into her in Chicago, where he's now playing on the same team as her brother is. Vaughan is known for being a belligerent grouch, but he shows a different side to Natalie. They strike up a secret friendship, and then become secret lovers. But Natalie is tired of being put on the back burner to the career of an NHL hockey player, and has no plans to get in deep with Vaughan. So what happens if she does? And what happens if her brother finds out about the relationship between Natalie and Vaughan?

This book was well-written. I loved the author's style, and it had all the feels. Vaughan had a great character arc, going from a liability to…read the book and you'll find out. I loved the smiles he had just for Natalie.

The book was also well-researched. I loved all the hockey details, of the NHL and of the youth hockey community. They were very descriptive.

Highly recommended.
