This book started a little slow but once I got a few chapters in, I was hooked. The concept of an apothecary in the 1700’s having been run by a woman in order to help women kill the men who treated them poorly is such a creative and fascinating concept for a novel. This book makes use of shifting narrators, including one from present day, which I really enjoyed for the telling of this story. I enjoyed the ending. The characters were likeable & the story was engaging.

I loved this book. The ending/last 100 pages completely caught me off guard with multiple plot twists. I love how the main character chose herself in the end. Definitely one of my new fav reads of 2021.

No strong representations of diverse characters or minority identities.

Quick Take: A suspenseful novel told in two timelines, 1791 and 2020, explores the motives behind unsolved apothecary murders yet unfortunately suffers from inconsistent pacing.
