This book was fairly awful. There were a few shining moments but not enough to salvage it. I had high expectations, but really, she lacks the sass and humor I was hoping for. It wasn't as sarcastic and witty as the title and reviews depict, however I did finish it although it was a difficult to push through to say the least.

Okay, Okay. Not quite David Sedaris, but a tolerable job. I won this book as a Goodreads First Read. Reading this book was a little like reading standup. With that point in mind, the jokes would have been stronger if the author has stopped after the first or second punch line. Some of the jokes did not need to extend an entire page. The last story of the book was a good finish and was probably one of my favorites...that one and the "suicidal" goat. This good light read.

This book reminds me, oddly, of Ellen Degeneres: I think she's funny and has a quick wit. I also think her style would translate better into stand-up than writing.

Much of my reservations about the book have to do with personal preference, I think. I appreciate a good one-liner, but I don't need (or want, really) every line to have humour -- I'd rather watch the buildup to one really good joke. This isn't that kind of book: it's one-liner after one-liner, often related but with limited range in (flailing around for a word here) pitch.

She makes some very funny and on-point observations, and I'd probably recommend the book to fans of (again) Ellen Degeneres...but I'm not the right audience for it.

I received a free copy of this book via a Goodreads giveaway.

Honestly, I made it to page 10, which was 9 pages too much. A good author has a broad vocabulary and doesn't need to rely on the over use of four letter words.

I won this in a Goodreads First Reads Giveaway.

It took me a while to warm up to the book. I'd give it only 2-1/2 stars if I could, but rounded up. There was more snark than humor. I'm not sure if the stories were better as I went along, or I became used to the author's writing style, but I liked it better by the end. The stories were heavy in current event references which led me to wonder whether book format was the best publishing choice.

At first I was disappointed because I wasn't finding it that funny, but it got better as it went along. I would buy another book from this author if I needed a light pick me up.
