Cam, with all his suave confidence, felt like the perfect match for an over-whelmed yet never faltering Amelia. It was easy to envision these two falling in love, and captivating to read. I didn't mind the additional paranormal aspects in this book, and enjoyed the setup for the other characters' romances.
My main gripe for this story was how unrealistic it was for Amelia and Cam to continuously be together whilst she refused to marry him, with only one character reproaching them. I never had a problem with any of the Wallflower books in this sense, which is why it's such a gripe for me. However, I will add that the writing for those scenes was much better in this book.

Especially Cam, whose personality seemed to have been completely altered from his first introduction.

The Hathaway family is just a mess. It felt a bit over the top to me. One sibling is a kleptomaniac, another self-destructive and suicidal, another struggling with chronic illness. It was just a bit much for me.
I found Amelia herself to be annoying. I still don't understand her reluctance to marry Cam. It didn't make sense to me.
I'm not comfortable with the racism in the book either. It just felt off. Devil in Winter didn't have the same feel.
