It was interesting to read a non-traditional Roma hero though and I do like Amelia and her endless suffering as the eldest daughter.

This Kleypas had a lot of what I usually find missing in other Kleypas books: a good connecting flow between the romance and the action. I’ve sometimes felt a pause in romance then some action and then play on romance and then action during some Kleypas books and it sort of agitates me. I don’t hate it but it does bother me when it happens.
Cam was hot and I love it when there’s a hard working mc and then the other mc is like “I’m gonna take care of you because you take care of everyone else” and so when they’re with each other is the one place the caretaker is being taken care of, it’s adorable.
I can’t wait for Leo’s book and Win and Merripen AND Beatrix/Beatrice OMG I HOPE THERE’S A SCENE WITH HER ANIMALS CAUSING A MEET-CUTE!!!
Minus .25 because WHERE THE F IS MY EPILOGUE!!!

Tropes:
- uptight heroine/super chill hero
- major opposites attract
- hero pursues heroine hardcore (heroine is the one with trust/commitment issues)
- kind of marriage of convenience
- self-made man
- rich hero
- strong family component
- pretty secluded (not really any parties or the ton in the book)

I just have to mention how much I loved how Cam was with Amelia. Their dynamic was so interesting and requires a lot of trust. I loved seeing how she let him take control when she's a control freak and he was always so gentle with her. They had banter but he was very good at allowing her to be in control while also taking control from her if that makes sense. You could just tell she was comfortable around him emotionally and he never took advantage of that once and I loved it. I also have commitment issues like Amelia and like my independence but Cam pursued her relentlessly. I loved it. I'm also dying to get my hands on Merripen and Win's book because I just know Merripen will bring all the angst and Win reminds me of Jane Bennett from Pride and Prejudice through how kind-hearted she is. I love their relationship already.
