I absolutely loved this book. It was a slow starter but once you get to the middle it turns to fast paced and you get to see the main characters more together.

Nikki always amazes me with how she can portray the emotions of her characters so well.
I think the reaper is my favourite character so far.

All the stars!

I swear I cannot read a Nikki J Summers book without getting sucked into the world she builds! I love the Soldiers of Anarchy and Devon was the absolute best. Seeing him lose his cool as he discovered Leah May was perfect! I love that Leah May was different, I loved her bit of darkness and the torch she carried. This was a really fantastic book to add to a fantastic series!

I really liked this story.
Devon has some pretty dark things in his past, but the way he dealt with them is something I love!
Leah May, I really dislike double names, knows who she is and what she wants. She just hasnt figured out how to get it.

The Reaper is book 2 in the Soldiers of Anarchy series and follows Devon & Leah May.

I thought I loved Adam Noble, The Psycho, but then along came Devon Brady, The Reaper…

“The reaper and the raven. One can see death, and the other deals with it. They’re a perfect pair.”

While Devon grew up with a traumatic childhood, being used by his father, Leah May grew up the daughter of a preacher, sheltered and a little naïve and loves ravens.

Devon was helping a girl who had been drugged at The Sanctuary.  The next day he takes her to her cousin’s house, he mees Leah May.  Devon had never noticed Leah May before but now he has met her properly, he can’t get her out of his head.

However unknown to Devon Leah May has been watching and following him for years.  She knows exactly what he gets up to as The Reaper for the soldiers and she is more than OK with everything he does.  She makes it clear to him she knows why he does everything that he does.  She had kept this hidden well until one night she slips up and all the soldiers catch her watching them.

I loved the romance between Devon and Leah May.  They are so perfect for each other.

Devon starts getting notes delivered to The Sanctuary, threatening and telling him to leave Brinton Manor.

We do get plot twists, but I did figure out who the blackmailer was almost immediately.

I can’t wait for Colton’s book.

As a follow up to The Psycho I would say this had all the right ingredients for me to fall in love with it. Yet, I felt it didn’t quite turn out the way I had anticipated it to. There were some parts of this story that felt a little repetitive and at times the pacing would fall behind a bit.

Even so, I give this book 4 stars. Devon’s (MMC) backstory was really dark and it pulled me in right away by the brutality he was exposed to as a young boy. I loved that Leah May (FMC) was peculiar and it was a reverse stalker romance. The poetic symbolism between The Reaper and The Raven was beautiful (The Reaper being Devon and The Raven being Leah May). Once the spice got going, it was everything I’d expect of a soldier from Brinton Manor. Leah May’s dark side in the bedroom took me by surprise, but I felt it made sense for her character. My only complaint is I wish the voyeurism was expanded on more, I feel that it would have been a way to carve out more of Leah May and Devons unique relationship; since they have such a long history even if it’s unbeknownst to Devon for a time.

Also, I felt that the voices that Leah May heard could have had more screen time (just my opinion, it may not even be on anyone else’s radar).

Overall, Devon and Leah May’s story was tender and beautiful. Had some sweet moments, had some spicy moments, and of course there were twists thrown in here. And lastly, I loved seeing more of Adam, Olivia, and of course Tyson.
