Beautifully poetic, Portero's novel reads like a river, or sometimes a storm, of memories. We are brought into her history, witnessing the relationships which made her who she is.
I would have loved a little more exploration of what her 'bad habits' are. The phrase is used sporadically, but it didn't feel like the idea was consistently present.

Graphic: Suicidal thoughts, Transphobia, Violence, and Grief
