Wow. I planned on reading a chapter or two and read this entire book in one sitting. Lopez’s story is incredible, and this is one of my new favorite books.

Amazing story. Incredibly surprised by the journey of the author, and his amazing ability to stay positive, and see the good in everything.

Quick book to read. I really admire his faith. Had no idea he would come to Syracuse- I always get nostalgic for upstate NY this time of year. The story itself made me really sad- puts a damper on everything throughout the day.

I'm so glad this was my book club's pick because I never would've grabbed this one on my own! Lomong's story had me crying on page 2 😭. I'd heard of the Lost Boys of Sudan growing up, but this was great insight into what was really happening. What an incredible story of faith and resilience. Made me think that if Lopez can look on the bright side despite all he's gone through, I should definitely be able to have a better outlook on life. This was especially fun to read right now as we're gearing up for Olympic season!
