Being a fan of Kyle Rainer I was a little trepidatious at the thought of Hal returning to helm the GL mythos, but Geoff Johns provided a well-paced story that paid its respects to both the old and the new, and the universal traditions of the Green Lantern Corps in general. Jam packed with guest stars and shocking twists, this story doesn't reinvent the Green Lantern, but rather adds a special touch to a comic book tradition that has been around for decades. And the art is superb!!!

This is Geoff Johns at his finest. Anyone that can take a tired, overlooked character and retune the mythology creating a fresh demand for more story has a gift. Johns singlehandedly revitalizes Green Lantern, and he is responsible for the Green Lantern getting made (disappointing as it was) and the huge uptick in merchandizing. He takes a story about little blue old guys who use rings to make interstellar police officers, and makes it relatable and hip.

At first, I found this overwhelming, since I didn't know much about Green Lantern, and the plot in the first issue or two jumps around the galaxy and in time, literally, as well as showcasing not only several Green Lanterns, but also a wide variety of DC heroes. However, all the pieces fell together, and I found this an enjoyable read. It managed to be a relatively quick and easy read, while somehow covering a huge amount of essential Green Lantern lore and still being chock full of action-packed art.

My first experience with Green Lantern and it was very good. Some times the story was moving pretty fast and it was a bit hard to get things since I don't know the background but I held up. Also the art is fantastic. Great story great art.

This was a truly amazing graphic novel. Geoff Johns finds a way to come back from the terrible place we left Hal Jordan--having destroyed all hope and credibility. He destroyed Coast City, became a murderer, but do we know the whole story?

What might have been seen as gratuitous retcon is actually well planned, pitch-perfect storytelling. Well done!

Geoff John's Green Lantern is amazing. It's kind of a jump from Emerald Dawn I and II considering the Parallax storyline & possible lack of knowledge of other GL's besides Hal Jordan. But I got through it and teared up a bit because I'm a baby.
