Gostei.

I think another reader might enjoy this, but it was not my cup of tea.

*It is worth mentioning, I am in my spicy era, and this did not have any.

Widow Cornelia isn't looking for another husband. One was more than enough. She's happy spending her days at the museum, working with antiquities.

Adventurer Ethan isn't looking for a wife. He's too busy discovering Mexico's hidden treasures. To thwart the matrimonial machinations of his duchess sister while he's in London for an exhibition, he asks Cornelia to fake an engagement. Will the ruse become real?

While this book is set in 1903, it made the Regency lover in me happy. The characters are strong and the subject matter a refreshing change. If you like the fake engagement trope, this book is a good choice.

Thanks, Booksprout, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.

DNF 18%. Confusing scenes, where I had to re-read several times to sort of understand but not completely until I just gave up. Didn't care for the writing style, it was weird. But what really turned me off this thing was the awful confusion of Mayan and Aztec cultures, by the heroine, who supposedly knows better. As a Mexican, I find that kind of offensive. At least do the most basic research into this, for fucks sake.

This was a fun quick read that was a nice to escape into. I love historical fiction and romance, so this was right up my alley. It's a cozy and fun read.
I did also appreciate the author addressing how the British have a tendency of taking things for their museums without asking. It may not be accurate of a person from that time, but I don't care. It made me like the male love interest even more because he was respectful of indigenous culture.

Loved it! I listened to this book on Audiobook and this series is so addicting! I love the adventures this series takes us on and the seriously hawt voice narrated by Garett J Davies. Five huge stars! Cornelia and Ethan were a fun book and lovely HEA!
