This story was great, the characters were great (in Cat's case) and pretty good (in Thane's case). Once again Katee Roberts needs more depth and length to her stories. The HEA seems shakey to me. I don't see how Cat fits into this world fully, or even is Katee wants her to fit into this world. Does she even need to? It's never explored, and it's not given the opportunity to considering how short this story is. Every time I read Katee's work I want more, because she promises so much! And every time (or so far) I have been let down.

Contains:
Brats!
Poor communication about contraception and then an abortion
Learning to be loved 🥰
Casual queerness!!!!! Neo pronouns!!!! We love to see it in Romance!

Honeyyyyyyyy YES. I love Katee Robert, I love that she wrote this book, I love the child free aspect of this book, I had such a good time with this read and I finished it in a day. I’m really enjoying this series and I love the concept too. Oh, and we can’t finish out this review without talking about the TENTACLES ugh honey yes. My only negative is perhaps that I wanted the tentacle scenes to be longer? And more detailed? But I had a blast and I can’t wait for the gargoyle book. Onto Ramanu’s story!

The Kraken’s Sacrifice by Katee Robert

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌶🌶🌶🌶

This is the sequel to Katee Robert’s fabulous and fun book The Dragon’s Bride! I’m not so patiently waiting for the Gargoyle book: aka my most anticipated book from her! This one was certainly fantastic and included scenes that fans were craving (peep that dedication page).

I really enjoyed this fantasy romance series. It’s definitely one of those that doesn’t take itself too seriously which makes for a lot of entertaining dialogue. Our female MC has a lot of chaotic energy that I really enjoyed. It also made me glad that Robert includes Catalina’s friendship with Ramanu. They are such a fun character so I liked that they became friends with Catalina.

Before you read this make sure you check out trigger warnings! This book includes some tense conversations about pregnancy as well as phobias galore. It also includes grief due to the death of a partner.

Will be honest, I did like The Dragon’s Bride more. Still a good book but this one was so fast that I felt like it was very rushed. I liked the couple, the world, I just wish there had been better pacing. Also really loved that this whole book is full of Queer characters. It is highly inclusive, even has a character with Neo-Pronouns! I cannot wait for the third book to see what more happens in this world!

I think I love this one even more than The Dragon's Bride which is hard to say because the serotonin boost that first book gave me was previously unmatched.

I just don't understand how Katee managed to make tentacle porn into this sweet cozy romance with two characters that are so devastating and lovable. Seriously, I want to give both Catalina and Thane the biggest hugs.... but also, like, damn they were HOT.

All of the side characters are just as amazing. I love the additional insight into the other territory leaders and demons. (I can't wait for Ramanu and Lenora's story in The Demon's Bargain.)
