I didn't quite like this as much as the first one. Declan was eh. The female audiobook narrator was bad. It sounded like Izma from Emperor's New Groove so instantly grossed out during šŸŒ¶ļø scenes.

This is book two in the Dreamland Billionaires series. Following the death of his grandfather and creator of the Dreamland Empire, Declan is tasked with getting married and fathering a child in order to rightfully obtain the CEO position. After several failed attempts at contract marriages, Iris steps in and offers to be Declanā€™s bride, but being married to her boss is not all cookies and rainbows. Terms & Conditions is a steamy workplace romance with a broody alpha-hole billionaire and the woman heā€™s always longed for. A solid read from Lauren Asher.

Declan was a bit of a dick at first but by the end he had really changed. And i understand because of everything he went through. I hope Seth dies a painful death. And I love Iris so much sheā€™s so real.

Long Review (to be fair thereā€™s three reviews soā€¦!)
T/W: Age gap, alcoholism, mention of abuse / DV

Third Read (01/03/23)
okayyyy third time reading this book! After careful deliberation, I can confidently state that it is a 3.75 star book. When itā€™s good, itā€™s great and when itā€™s bad itā€™s cringy. I love that each time I read this book I fall in love with the characters (pretty much everyone but Declan lmao) and see how much the care for one another. Are there aspects that could be improved? Definitely. But for a billionaire romance this one definitely follows a unique trope and always acknowledges Declanā€™s problematic behavior.

 Second read: 10/25/2022 (2.5 āļø/5)
Ok so this book was not that good :/. After I was done riding the booktok high I honestly say this book was meh at best. A lot of the scenes were designed to gain traction on social media and now that I see that it so CORNY. Declan is not endearing ā€¦ AT ALL. Yes he does nice things at times but for the most part heā€™s a selfish controlling ass who cannot communicate his feelings. Also the way he attacks Irises ONE insecurity??? I have a very hard time supporting characters that hit below the belt. If Iā€™m being completely honest the whole argument was so overblown and felt ā€¦ inauthentic?
Overall the pacing in the book was a bit fast and could use some improvement. That being said this is definitely one of the better books in the franchise.

THIS BOOK?!?? INCREDIBLE. AMAZING. WONDERFUL.

First of all letā€™s give it up for our black MC!!! Iris is funny, witty, confident, and takes no shit. Sheā€™s an icon, sheā€™s a legend and she is the moment. And Declan??? Ugh my grumpy king! Strong, Determined, a bit of an ass, and a fierce protector of those he loves.

Iris and Declan could not be any more different and thatā€™s what makes them work so well. Iris is 24. Declan is 36. Iris is personable and friendly, Declan is brooding and anti-social. I have read a ton of books that have the grumpy sunshine trope but this is by far one of the best ones. Iā€™m telling you as soon as I started reading this book I couldnā€™t put it down, itā€™s REALLY THAT good.

Terms and conditions is endearing, sweet, funny, frustrating at times, and has more butterfly inducing moments that one can possibly deem safe in one book, but most importantly itā€™s genuinely a love story. If you read Wattpad stories growing up I promise this books is everything you could want and more. I donā€™t believe in calling many books perfect but this oneā€™s a close contender.

Tropes
Office romance - āœ…
Grumpy/Sunshine- āœ…
GUY FALLS FIRST- āœ…āœ…āœ…āœ…
Enemies to lovers- āœ…
HEALTY AND MATURE COMMUNICATION- āœ…āœ…āœ… (depends where youā€™re in the story tbh)
SLOW BURN- 100% āœ…

Thereā€™s nothing else I can say except this book is genuinely so good. Take the dive and emerge yourself in Declan and Irisā€˜s story. I promise you wonā€™t regret it. If you like Colleen Hoover then youā€™re gonna love Lauren Asher.

Donā€™t be fooled by how long it took me to finish this book. I absolutely loved it. While it definitely was a little slower for me than The Fine Print, I loved it in a way I compare to Bridgerton s1 vs s2. The tension between Iris and Declan was so thick you could cut it with a knife. Their banter literally had me howling at certain points, and it was clear how much they cared about each other.

I havenā€™t read a lot of books with the ā€˜I hate everyone but youā€™ trope but boy Iā€™m about to. The protectiveness Declan felt for Iris was so sweet, and honestly concerning at certain points, but I ate that shit up. Since true romance books are somewhat new to me, there are definitely things that pushed me out of my comfort zone in this book, as well as the first installment of the series. Lauren Asher just writes in a way that makes me comfortable reading romance (and all the things that come with it. wink wink, nudge nudge).

Declan and Irisā€™s romance was just so freaking good. I also loved the exploration of learning disabilities and familial issues. It felt like these two both worked so hard for the other, and it really was worth it in the end. I canā€™t wait to read Calā€™s story (bc heā€™s my fave) and see one more - hopefully - happy ending.
