Laura Pearson, Adult Erotic Fantasies: My Wife Is a Slut (Amazon Digital Services, 2010?)

This is one of a series of short porn-style ebooks one can find around the Kindle world for a surprisingly high price, given the number of longer porn-style ebooks that can be had around the Kindle world for a buck or less. But given that it's a series, I figured I'd check it out and see if it was at all worth the money. “No” is a clear answer, but there's just so much more to say.

I made a couple of extra bucks in middle school writing porn on demand for classmates. It's embarrassing to think about now. After all, I was in, what, sixth grade? It was awful, awful crap, with no characterization, no real connection between the events depicted (except for one epic piece I spent most of the year cranking out, but that was a sex comedy more than it was porn), no beginning, no end, you get the drill. In other words, nothing that makes an actual story could be found in those pages, at least not most of the time. And this reminds me of those stories a lot. It's divided up into eleven chapters (despite being only thirty pages long), but aside from the same characters being in them, any connection between those chapters is tenuous at best. Pearson does attempt, toward the end, to bring in a time element, but it's way too little way too late. Also, these characters suffer from the #1 malady of stupid, unlikable characters: one brief conversation, lasting maybe thirty seconds, could have stopped everyone having to run around and get themselves into silly situations. Ah, the wonders of authors who use dumb conventions that were clichéd by the Victorian era.

It's not the worst porn I've ever read. I'm sure I wrote the worst porn I ever read. But it's pretty damned close. Oh, well, I will continue my search for cheap, quality Kindle porn. At least I'm having a modicum of fun with the search. ½
