I expected to love this book. I liked it. I found it difficult to separate the movie (which I've seen several times and really enjoy) from the book. I kept comparing them in my head. I can't think of another instance where the movie comes out better for me...but this is one. Also, just a note, I can't believe they are able to sell this in the young adult section. It is a very adult story. Content warning.

I love the film adaptation of this book, and I think I'll revisit the film rather than reread this, although I enjoyed it. It's whimsical and relaxing to read, although there is some language used which is dated and took me out of the story. The ending felt rather rushed but I enjoyed it overall.
