Attempted the audiobook, but maybe this is a better book for me to read as a physical book

2023 read:
I can see why a lot of people didn't like this book MORE. Couldn't get past 25%. Brianna Wiest rly is just a right time, right mindset read that dictates if it's a hit or miss.

2022 read:
I can see why a lot of people didn't like this book. Much of Wiest's advice and wise words were like the same doll, dressed in different clothing. Also, a lot of it came from a perspective of either leisure or just an abundance of time to go through the full cycle of pain, healing, growth, habit. Many people whether it be the wrong relationships, wrong jobs, student debt, no resources, no house, no food--many people have other things consuming their energy so they're not able to just call themselves the problem and fix themselves.

I think to love this book, you have to be fortunate enough to have stumbled on it at the right time in your life and for that, two things need to have happened.

1. You need to hear what Wiest says.
2. You can afford to listen.

For me, reading this was at the right time, after a traumatic relationship and in a period of little financial responsibility. So I absolutely loved it. From the very first pages I felt were speaking to me--to my very soul--to all the lessons harder to accept (however the lesson perhaps what I didn't like in other people was what I didn't like in myself... this lesson I'm not too sure about...) and then to the very end, I loved 99.99% of this book.

It changed me, it definitely changed the way I think, and I hope it changes you too. Even if you don't agree with everything, that's fine. But I hope you can find some parts of Wiest's book that you resonate with and that will make you want to be a better person.
To others.
To yourself.
And for yourself because you deserve it.
