A bonus book in the Jack Stratton series that helps fill in some of the background content while solving another mystery.

A simple, fun and fast paced mystery with excellent characters. The writing funny and the dialogue/conversational tone is top notch. Even though the mystery is a bit predictable, the overall experience of the book is not dampened at all. It is a quick, entertaining read!

Oh my god this was such a good book!!! From page 1 I couldn't put it down! The twists, the turns, THE MOTIVE??? Top tier. My only gripe is why did they put so much pressure on a teenage boy to solve this lol. An absolute must read, now I definitely have to read the rest of the series

Had a really difficult time getting into this book. I was unable to relate to any of the characters.

Great story

Great mystery. I can’t wait to read more books about Jack. He is wanting to get in the army and to be a cop and gets into trouble trying to solve a murder case when the cops won’t let him.

This is discount Jack Reacher. But since it gave me a reason to stop watching TV or playing video games, I'm giving it 4 stars.

I seem to be blessed when it comes to reading prequels. I usually stumble upon them when the series has a few books out so that if I love them, I can look forward to grabbing the series and binge reading until I am caught up. And the Detective Jack Stratton Mystery Series looks like it is going to be one of those series.

AND THEN SHE WAS GONE is a wonderful introduction to Jack and his sidekick Chandler. The book starts out with him stopping a purse snatcher and just keeps getting better from there. When Stacy Shaw disappears, Jack is positive that the police have gotten the wrong man and he is determined to prove it.

The story line is fast paced yet there is time for the reader to really get to know Jack and his background. The dialogue is witty and sometimes amusing and the characters are a real treat. They are so realistic that I can picture some of them popping up for my monthly potluck.

I do recommend this prequel to any of my readers who enjoy reading police procedurals and I tend to search out the rest of the series. There's no sex in this book but there is violence.

*** I received this book at no charge from NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review. All opinions expressed within are my own.
