I tried to give this a chance since it’s a contemporary classic but I cannot stand how this book talks about women. I know it’s a satire; I still don’t enjoy reading about women being called slurs. I barely made a dent in this massive book but I was confused and didn’t enjoy it

This has been the longest book I've read this year. And to be honest, the fact that I didn't shove ‘Catch-22’ to a corner in utter impatience is a testament to how incredible this book was! Absolutely amazing book!

The first 100 pages of Catch-22 were difficult to get through. The characters were frustrating and incredibly absurd. The story slowly unfolded into a quirky take on World War II, and was an interesting read. I can understand why this is such a popular book, it's a different and humorous view of World War II with sad, dark undertones. I ended up enjoying the read and enjoyed watching the development of different characters, especially Milo. I found myself fed-up but still laughing at the bureaucracy and all of the characters. The dialogue was entertaining. Another thing I noticed about this book was whenever a woman was mentioned it was always referring to her a sexual way -- the descriptions, her actions, her looks, how everyone else treated her. I found that peculiar.

Overall, it was a challenging book to start but still an amusing view on World War II.
