Interesting mystery/fiction story about an older woman who is an assassin reminiscing on her life as she navigates the ending of her career, and potentially her life.
It was interesting. I was expecting more of a mystery/thriller and less of a retrospective fiction on a woman’s life. But overall it was entertaining.

11.11.2023 - An interesting experience. It's written as a week in the life kind of style with flashbacks and this sort of detachment that is so interesting. I liked the character despite her need to br detached.

My opinion of this book greatly suffers from my incorrect expectations. I should have put it down, but it was the only book I had on hand for a time.
I had thought it would be a more mysterious or satirical book. I had expected a solitary elderly hitwoman, rather than a single employee of an established assassination business. The changed the fundamental concept of the story - instead of a Good-For-Her style dark comedy/horror, it was ultimately a rumination on loss, isolation, and loneliness. Which is a wonderful subject for a story, just not the one I thought I was picking up.
I found it hard to follow at times because I was simply not interested. It wasn't boring nor poorly written, but not what I had initially interested me. I wasn't keeping track of characters, because my mind was already so set on a different story style. I may reread this in the future, and I certainly would try this author again. I was just a bit too confused at the time to take this story in.

Despite the tense fighting scenes and grisly assasinations, this is a quiet yet moving story about a woman struggling in a society where ageing is seen as something to be ashamed of. The ending was so beautifully sad but very touching.
