I feel like this book was written specifically for the Hatke fans out there. It was like Ben Hatke was tipping his hat to the fans of his books.
Loved the character development, especially of Lilly. I feel like there is more to her story...

Good follow-up to the cliffhanger ending of the first book.

This was so much fun to read! Definitely had moments that reminded me of 'Labyrinth'. I hope we see this trio again!

While the first book was mostly set up, this one is all action. Fast-paced with characteristically gorgeous artwork, this was a great read. After reading the first book, I immediately wanted to know what happened next and this one did not disappoint.

I actually started this series because I loved [b:Zita the Spacegirl|8879121|Zita the Spacegirl (Zita the Spacegirl, #1)|Ben Hatke|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1388260704l/8879121._SX50_.jpg|13754899] and enjoyed the mash up, [b:Mighty Jack and Zita the Spacegirl|42642090|Mighty Jack and Zita the Spacegirl (Mighty Jack, #3; Zita the Spacegirl, #4)|Ben Hatke|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1553768597l/42642090._SX50_.jpg|66378737]. While I could understand the mash up without having read these books, I am glad I went back and read them. This one nicely sets up the third book and is a great adventure story.

Fantastic read. [a:Ben Hatke|3212743|Ben Hatke|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1309996180p2/3212743.jpg] is such a treasure.

Amazing follow-up! I enjoyed the first volume quite a bit, but the end left me feeling a little blasé. This book exceeded my expectations by a long shot. It follows Jack and Lilly as they head up the beanstalk to rescue Jack's sister from a giant. There are some side adventures that occur along their path; the best of which involves the goblin king. The story is clearly inspired by fairytales without being bound to them. There are some pretty clever moments that really make it stand out. I thought the art was great once again. It has a style that fits both the content of the story and should appeal to the target audience perfectly. I finished this volume satisfied with the story and excited for more. Well done Mr. Hatke.

I read the first book too long ago to really remember what happened but I liked this book nonetheless. I was a little confused how Lilly got her goblin power. Supposedly she consumed goblin blood but I didn’t see that she did. Overall not a bad continuation of the story. I’m curious what the third book is about.
