"Butcher and Blackbird" was quirky and poorly written—essentially, a typical TikTok book. I didn't learn my lesson because when I saw the second book had been published, I felt compelled to pick it up. I kept telling myself not to read it but ended up doing it anyway. Maybe I was planning to hate-read it? Who knows.
If the plot was nonexistent in the first book, it's definitely missing here. Lark kills someone, Lachlan does his job and complains to himself, or they just have some verbal sparring. The characters are one-dimensional, there's no plot, and the romance is half-baked. You'd think a book about two serial killers would be thrilling and suspenseful, but instead, the characters bored me to death. The darkness must have been stabbed to death too.

Wanted to love this but it felt rushed and the focus of the book felt off.

Not as much of a dark comedy as Butcher & Blackbird but still another good book in the triology. I liked this different version of two broken people coming together through vengeance and love

I loved Leather & Lark. It was dark and hysterical all at the same time. Lark is fantastic. Her love of glitter and conviction in using the term ‘deleting people’ was adorable. Lachlan is a cinnamon roll that I couldn’t help but enjoy. I loved their banter and the way their relationship developed throughout the book. The villain part could have been a little better developed, but this was overall a solid and very enjoyable read.
I listened to the audio which I highly recommend. The dual narration was absolutely fantastic!
