Woah... this is pretty different from the movie. I actually really like the movie and had watched it before realizing it was based on a book. I assumed it would be just a richer version of the movie but it's actually quite different. It's darker and more hopeless. I try not to watch movies until after I've read the books because then all I can picture while reading is the movie instead of creating my own images in my mind. I went into this picturing Will Smith but soon gave up on that image. The characters description and actions made it easy to picture this book in an entirely different way than the movie. Plus the living dead creatures acted in a way very unlike the movie. Definitely worth reading even if you've seen the movie.
