This picture book works for older readers, and is great as a writing prompt. A little girl named Alex Addleston meets a little boy named Alex Addleston on their first day of kindergarten. The two become best friends. Girl Alex moves unexpectedly halfway across the world. Years pass and the two grow older, but never forget each other. As twelve year olds, they meet again in a chance encounter.

There were some unanswered questions with this one, but I like the story of the best friends who find each other again. Works for upper elementary and older, those kids who've had a best friend move away (or grow apart).
