Their meet cute was a little awkward. The second time they saw each other was even more so. Well, for her anyways. He's the boss that intimidates everyone. She's the therapist trying to ease the stress everyone in the company is feeling, even if he, the big cheese, doesn't think it's necessary. She's out to prove him wrong and prove her abilities. Of course this is a romance, so things happen between the two of them. Both are a little bit damaged, though she has done a lot better in the healing department than him. His past, the past he thought he was recovered from, is still lingering in the background and a surprise meeting brings it all out in full force. There's not a lot of humor in this book. Some jokes between the characters mostly. There is a heaviness surrounding both of their pasts. Hers remain in the past while his are a little more relevant in the present. There is some sexual content, though really only one or two scenes and they are not drawn out taking over the story in any way. There is some subject matter that may be a trigger for sensitive readers. (Domestic abuse.) There are some sweet moments, and some heart aching moments. It alternates between POVs.

The Boss Project is a quintessential Vi Keeland contemporary romance, which are comfort reads for me.

I purchased the audiobook this morning, on release day, and I finished it in one day- it's that good! It was narrated by fan favorites Andi Arndt and Sebastian York, who both gave fantastic performances. Main characters Merrick and Evie were just delightful- I loved their witty banter and the connection they had through their grandmothers.

I loved this, I read it in 2 sittings (kid came up from university to get home cooked food so I had to stop, boo) but then I finished it in a long reading block that kept me up way too late. She is snarky, funny, and fierce. His grandma OMG she is the best! and he is broken but doesn't know it. I'll definitely be looking forward to more Vi Keeland in the future
