Sweet insta-love, marriage of convenience. The story behind the soldiers and the ranch they rehab at would make great full length books.

No. Just no.
I understand that the "marriage of convenience" trope was the main pull but they were declaring their love for one another less than a week after meeting. The first half of the book was all about his PTSD and her abandonment issues but nothing was ever explored. Within a day, they were already claiming to be super in love. Maybe I'm cynical but it was completely dumb.

Enjoyed it

I enjoyed this book and the characters. A great fluffy read with wounded hearts and bodies and finding the person to heal them. Definitely going to get the next one.

If you're looking for a sweet romance that's an overall easy listen, On His Bended Knee will do the trick - if you can suspend disbelief because this one requires a good deal of it. I think the main thing this story could've used was more research on the author's part, but I guess that's where the suspension of disbelief comes in. It is a quick listen, and the marriage of convenience trope is always fun. Plus, being married to a veteran, they tend to have a special place in my heart, especially those grumpy ones that are hiding just how big their heart really is. Meagan Moses does the narration, and this was my first time listening to her. That said, it won't be my last. She does a great job with all the characters and with the emotion of the story. So, this one has several tropes to enjoy, including veteran, wounded warrior, marriage of convenience, cowboy, animal lover... The list goes on, but you get the picture. At this point, I'm not sure I'll continue with the series, but this first one was an interesting introduction.

This book ended up not being my favorite, but I think that was more from personal preferences and there are people out there who would absolutely love it! If you’re looking for a book that is so sweet it hurts, this book is absolutely for you. The heroine and hero both believe they are unlovable for different reasons, but they find strength and love within each other.
I was ultimately happy with the end result!
I listened to this on Audio and the narrator (only one female) had a great voice as well!

This starts with a sympathetic vet assistant. She loses her job and home because of taking too many dogs home with her. To save herself and the therapy ranch for disabled veterans, she enters into a marriage of convenience.
