I had the opportunity to read this in French, and the writing is beautiful. The first two paragraphs had me focused from the start.

I thought this was going to tell the story of an insecure woman’s relationship with her husband. She’s clearly an overthinker and always assumes the worst case scenario is going to happen.

In the beginning, the main character seems to love her husband above anyone else. She’s deeply scared that her husband will inevitably slip through her fingers somehow, cheat on her and leave.
I got confused and realized she was psychotic when she
cheats on him for the first time
halfway through the book. I didn’t expect this at all given how much she seems to love him and the way she wants him to love her just as much.

The ending was unexpected but nicely done in my opinion. I liked it but I have many unanswered questions.

This woman and her husband need to be kept AWAY from any children and put in a padlocked room away from society. GOOD GOD. I loved reading about her neuroses and how the author came back to certain points to make everything clear. It’s crazy how this woman is living in her own personal hell in the name of love. I personally loved the twist ending, I don’t care what that says about my taste.

Holy shit. I had no idea where this was going, and could hardly put the book down. Darkly humorous and very French.

I don't know how I'm supposed to go to sleep after that ending!!! I ran to my laptop to see everyone's reviews!

I'll be honest, 98% of the book is extremely slow, repetitive, and lacks any real substance, besides the fact that this woman is absolutely crazed by the obsession she has over her husband. That girl is COLD. Not just in her marriage, or with her 'friends', but I actually was taken aback by how she felt about her own damn kids.

I did NOT expect that twist in the epilogue. my jaw was DROPPED. It really does put the whole book into a different perspective.
THEY BOTH CRAZY. But i'm also like....he's making HER crazy??? I don't know if I should feel bad for her or just hate both of them. Like he really said that he 'marks his territory' when he has s*x with her after she goes off with someone else like......you nasty sir. Maybe she should toss you out the window...

Without the epilogue, I would've definitely rated this lower. Mostly because I didn't enjoy that it was all just her stream of thoughts and not a lot of dialogue or character interaction. I really had to force myself to push through it. I also wouldn't categorize it in thriller or horror, I'd say it's more just dark and psychological.
