it was a strong descent into the madness of a truly obsessed and calculated woman and how she views her marriage, truly unlike anything i’ve ever read before. like a clementine, her taste for revenge was best described as sour, not seasonal, and was always neatly pre-packaged. and in the end, all i could say was they deserved one another.
(thank you for the recommendation Masego, it was definitely very “Gone Girl” meets “YOU” vibes x)

Honestly, I didn’t enjoy the reading experience of this book as you have literally no character to root for, and nothing really happens to keep you hooked. It’s absurd, and became genuinely exhausting at times due to the main characters convoluted train of thought.
The Epilogue saved it for me, because I wasn’t really expecting that “twist”, but upon reflection, all it did was solidify my statement about them being perfect as a couple- in an unpredictable and slightly sick way. It still felt lazy though, as I had heard so much hype for this ending.
(this book is labeled as a thriller here on SG, but it just wasn’t very thrilling- just average litfic about unwell women)
Moderate: Gaslighting
