The beginning and the end of this book were definitely the better parts. Also the chapters that were in the present seemed to be more captivating than the chapters in the past. Toward the end of the book I was extremely enthralled with the action but in the middle it kind of dragged on. The beginning scene does a great job to draw the reader in. In my opinion the relationship between Ulrich and Avelina develops too quickly although I did enjoy the past scenes toward the end of the book. Some of the parts of the book seem confusing because things are states as though we should know them, but they just happen without detail. More detail is key to a more life like book.
